How to Become a Disciple
There are many different understandings that individuals have on what is involved in becoming a Christian and all of them will refer to the New Testament Scriptures. So how is it that multiple explanations come from a single source?
One reason could be that there is no one single place in the Scriptures that states everything the Lord wants us to do to become a disciple, i.e. those who should be saved (Acts 2:47). You can find passages that say:

-
“Whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved” (Acts 2:21)
-
“I (Jesus) am the door. Whoever enters by Me shall be saved” (John 10:9)
-
“Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you shall be saved, you and your household” (Acts 16:31)
-
“Baptism now saves you, not the removal of dirt from the flesh but an appeal to God for a good conscience” (1 Peter 4:21)
-
“For in hope we have been saved” (Romans 5:24)

And there are many other Scriptures which answer the question of “What must I do to be saved?” (Acts 16:30). Maybe the correct answer is to take a comprehensive look at all the Scriptures which say what we must do. After all, that is a common sense approach to understanding communication. Being a good listener means to give the speaker (or writer) the courtesy to complete their whole message.
It has been said that a “picture is worth a thousand words”. The book of Acts is a historical picture of the beginning of the Lord’s church and the making of disciples. Just quickly read through it and note what people to become disciples of Jesus. And then repeat the process.
May God bless you in your search to become a disciple of Jesus. For further discussion, please do not hesitate to contact us. We will follow the same process as outlined above as well as look at the other Scriptures relating to “making disciples”.
